The data refers to salient features of Wankel Type Rotary Engine and Four Cylinder Two Stroke Reciprocating Engine. 55 hp Wankel type engine indigenously designed and developed in the country for the first time. The development of rotary engine project was initially originated from Vehicles Research and Development Establishment (VRDE), Ahmednagar, and jointly executed by NAL, a CSIR lab, and ADE (DRDO), Bangalore. The engine was cleared for flight after a rigorous ground and endurance test run.

The Flexible power take-off (PTO) shaft designed and developed by CVRDE, transmits the drive between engine gearbox and Accessory gearbox of Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) - Tejas. the name "flexible PTO Shaft"is derived from the fact that the shaft is able to accommodate large misalignment, which is generally prohibited in the drive line of any transmission system.
CVRDE has been entrusted with abinitio design and development of an Aircraft Mounted Accessory Gear Box (AMAGB) for LCA. The project was sanctioned by Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) Min. of Defence Bangalore, the Nodal agency for design and development of LCA. AMAGB is a single input, multi output gearbox, which receives its input drive from the LCA engine through a Power Take-Off (PTO) shaft at rated speed of 16,810 rpm. It carries four aircraft accessories on its output pads viz., two hydraulic pumps, one generator and one starter unit.
